About

For many families, the idea of homeschooling raises big questions:
Where do we start? What does Vermont require? What does a typical day look like? Are there other families doing this nearby?

This project was created to help answer those questions in a clear, practical, and welcoming way—by connecting families with information, with each other, and with the many opportunities that already exist across the state.

An important note

VThomeschool.com is not an official authority, government entity, or legal resource.

While we aim to share helpful and accurate information, this site should be used as a starting point—not a final source for legal or compliance decisions. Homeschooling requirements can change, and individual situations vary.

For official guidance, documentation requirements, and up-to-date information, families should refer directly to the Vermont Agency of Education.

How this site fits in

Vermont already has a strong, established homeschool network. This site is designed to complement its work! For guidance, advocacy, and comprehensive support, we strongly encourage families to connect with the Vermont Home Education Network (VHEN).

VHEN is a long-standing, statewide organization that provides:

  • Detailed guidance on Vermont homeschooling law
  • Step-by-step help with enrollment and annual requirements
  • Community connections and events
  • Advocacy and up-to-date information for Vermont homeschoolers

If you are homeschooling (or seriously considering it), VHEN should be one of your primary resources.
